How we care for our Salmon
The cool waters of Tasmania are the home of our Atlantic salmon. We care about the health, welfare, and quality of our fish. We have a dedicated welfare team for our salmon that follow a comprehensive welfare management plan. Our veterinarians monitor our fish closely to check the health and wellbeing of our salmon. Our salmon are fed specialised diets to obtain all the nutrients they require to thrive.
Salmon get their flesh colour from their diet, whether wild or farmed. Wild salmon consume other marine life in their diet which contain a healthy antioxidant called astaxanthin. For our responsibly farmed salmon, we add this ingredient to our fish feed to mimic the diet of wild salmon and provide the healthy antioxidant they need.

Tassal Fresh Tassie Salmon
Tassal Fresh Tasmanian Atlantic Salmon portions are available skin-on or skin-off, and are conveniently packaged to grab-and-go and can be cooked in a variety of ways. Our portions are sliced and pin boned by machine, carefully checked by hand and sealed for freshness.
Our Tassal Tasmanian Smoked Atlantic Salmon is a delicious and convenient way to enjoy salmon. Fresh salmon is sprinkled in sea salt, slowly cured in a temperature-controlled cure room, then smoked over beechwood to create the delicate sweet smokey flavour with subtle woody notes and melt in your mouth texture.
Tassal Cooked & Smoked Tasmanian Atlantic Salmon Fillets are a delicious and convenient way to eat salmon. Our Cooked Salmon Fillets are cured with sea salt and smoked over beechwood until cooked through.
