Storing Salmon

Once home, fresh salmon should be kept in the fridge. On a plate, place hand towel (to absorb moisture), then salmon fillets, and wrap plate in glad wrap. Alternatively, store in an airtight containers. Eat within 3 days.

Fresh salmon can also be frozen on the day of purchase.  Seal in an airtight container or wrapping to keep the moisture in and the air out.  Frozen salmon can be kept for up to 3 months. Thawed salmon should never be refrozen and should not come into contact with other uncooked food.

Vacuum sealed smoked salmon can be stored unopened in the refrigerator from 0-4C until the use by date shown on the pack.  Once the pack has been opened, salmon must be eaten within 72 hours.
